Based on polls sent to students and staff, football is Maury High School’s most popular sport this school year.

When asked which sports they were most excited about and most likely to attend, students and staff made football their top choice.

Over 81 percent of the staff members who responded to the poll said they were most excited for football and over 40 percent said they were most likely to attend a football game this year.

Per the Commodore Chronicle’s student poll, over 48 percent were most excited for football, beating track and field at over 43 percent. Over 29 percent said they were most likely to attend a football game.

Maury’s football team will start the season against Dr. Henry A Wise Jr. High School this Friday at home at Powhatan Stadium on Sept. 8.
