Maury High School’s girls volleyball team played in a competitive tournament on Saturday and walked away with a learning experience.

Maury played in the Endless Summer High School Tournament, one of the largest tournaments on the East Coast, on Saturday, and while they lost three in a row before winning one, they used the experience as a litmus test for the season.

The Commodores beat Arcadia High School (Oak Hill, VA) but lost to Western Branch High School (Chesapeake, VA), Notre Dame, (Villanova, PA), and Greenbrier Christian Academy (Chesapeake, VA), despite the strong play from Sadie Stafford, Amira Valcourt-Keys, Madison Watts, and Lily Bockheim.

Despite the setback, Head Coach Andrea Everett expressed confidence that they will be successful against Eastern District competition.

The Commodores will resume regional play against Norcom High School on Monday Sept. 16.
