Maury girls basketball is now second in the region after taking a loss and securing two victories last week.
The Maury girls basketball team dropped to second place in the region after losing to Manor, but they bounced back by defeating the Norcom Greyhounds 53-43 and then beating Caroline High Schoool 53-39.
Last season, the Maury Commodores were fifth in the region according to MaxPreps.com, and even after their loss against Manor, the Commodores remain closer to the top of the leaderboard.
Head Coach Julius Owens said that the key to victory against Norcom was “the ladies bouncing back to take on a tough team” after their loss.
Against Norcom High school, junior forward Sarajane Walker led the Commodores with 19 points and senior Myla Parker added 16 points.
The Commodores are now 11-2 this season. They will play against Booker T. Washington on Jan. 22.
