The Maury High School Commodores clobbered the Woodside High School Greyhounds 64-6 on Friday November 14.
Maury won due to their phenomenal defense and their consistent offense.
Maury’s defense allowed only one touchdown all game with three sacks, a fumble recovery, and an interception. The sacks were recorded by senior linebackers Marquise Perrin and Isaiah Simmons and junior defensive back /wide receiver Jahvon Wiggins.
Senior cornerback Matt Williams grabbed the interception and ran it back for a touchdown.
The Commodore offense also played well, scoring six TDs with two coming from the hand of sophomore quarterback Dominick Everette and four coming on the ground.
The passing touchdowns were both screen passes caught by Jahvon Wiggins, who made a great move to avoid tacklers on his score, and Tayshawn Branche.
Maury will take on Warwick High School Friday November 21 in the upcoming regional semi final.
