Maury boys lose to Lake Taylor

The Maury High School Commodores lost the Lake Taylor High School Titans 60-34 on Wednesday, Feb. 4.

Maury lost this game due to struggling on offense.

Maury ended the first quarter 10-10 and headed into halftime down 22-17. The Commodores also recorded five blocks in the first quarter and continued to play good interior defense throughout the game.

The game got out of hand in the third quarter when Lake Taylor scored 21 of their 60 points, including three threes, while all Maury could muster up was six.


Maury had foul trouble, allowing Lake Taylor to shoot 34 free throws on the night. The Titans also made six threes with four of them coming from the game’s leading scorer, Jarrari Edwards.

Maury’s Amari Clark led his team with 12 points on the night with only two free throws.

The Commodores shot 66% on a total of 12 attempts.

Maury High School’s next games will be away at Norfolk College on Feb. 10,  at home against I.C. Norcom on Feb. 11, and at home again on Feb. 13 against Booker T. Washington.
