The Maury High School Commodores defeated the Granby High School Comets 6-0 on Monday September 14th

As our Maury Field Hockey girls took on the Granby Comets, we started off the game with three seniors, seven juniors, and one freshman (due to the jv game following this one). We started off the game strong with a corner in the first five minutes. Senior Lily Schroeder passed the ball to Junior Zoe Redel for a clean tap in, scoring the first goal. After this, many more incredible goals were made in this half, featuring Annabelle Toppings dribbling 40 yards, solo, to finish the run with a reverse to the top right post. Ellie McBride finished the half with a hat trick. But these goals did not occur because of one or two players. Our girls had great ball movement the entire game and our defenders had great clears throughout. Despite the un-commedore-like language exchanged from the Comets, Maury finished the game in the third quarter, 6-0. Our goalies Reese Mason and Emily Swanson held their ground the entire game with a shut out against Granby.

The Maury High School Commodores take on First Colonial High School on September 18th next.
